RESIDENTIAL SITES

Apart from the deisgnated sites for communal and commercial activity, the development will offer sites for stand alone homes along the waterfront as well as smaller plots for bungalows and apartments.

The development will provide architectural inspiration and guidance for stand alone houses as well as smaller holiday bungalows to maintain the architectural and thematic unity of the development, as well as consulting on building ‘green homes.’ The developers will also provide construction services for those who wish to enlist our services to build their home.

Housing design will be inspired by contemporary design, African inspirations, the use of natural materials and green, country living.

Home owners will have the freedom to design their own dream homes, while adhering to the general style and aesthetic of the development, emphasizing the lowest carbon footprint, and preservation of the surrounding forest.

A variety of sites will be available with varying sizes for both long term permanent housing as well as smaller short terms holiday homes, bungalows and apartments.

A section will be dedicated to artist housing to support the needs of artists at the Kitapo Center for Performing Arts as well as providing a long term artist colony for artists from various disciplines.

DESIGN INSPIRATIONS

Drawing from Africa’s ancient civilization, Great Zimbabwe, the style will use the naturally occurring stone and expertise of stone masons in much of the communal and residential architecture.

Dry stone masonry will be used for outdoor structures, while stone walls will form a central part of the style for the Kitapo Centre for the Performing Arts, Ampitheatre, Hotel, Museum and Marina. The development will encourage the use of naturally occuring and locally sourced materials for residential housing, and support clients to source both materials and craftmen.

LOCATION

Kafue Bay

Twenty minutes by boat from the Kafue Bridge, the site lies on the North Bank of the river.  A dirt road currently provides access to the site from Great North Road, and we are working with RDA to provide a tar road with better access in the near future.
